Wer unglaublicherweise nicht dazu kommt, nach Sundance in Utah zu fahren und dort das gleichnamige Filmfestival zu besuchen, der kann wenigstens einen kleinen Gratis-Eindruck davon per iTunes-Store bekommen. The 10 [96!] films include This Way Up, a U.K. horror parody nominated Wednesday for an Oscar, along with several catchy experiments in animation:

• Field Notes From Dimension X: Oasis (trailer embedded) from director Carson Mell is set against real footage of a desert as Captain Fred T. Rogard bitterly recounts life as a stranded explorer on the planet Oasis.
• Magnetic Movie, directed by Joe Gerhardt (aka Semiconductor), uses audio of University of California at Berkeley space sciences lab geeks dryly discussing photons while pulsating magnetic fields crawl across the screen like manic strings of spaghetti gone wild.
• Our vote for Outstanding Goofiness in a Lead Role goes to I Live in the Woods (pictured top) by CalArts’ filmmaker Max Winston (Robot Chicken). The hero is a leprechaun hillbilly with hard-boiled eggs for eyes who boasts, “I command a whole army of deaf bumblebees” and serenades a pack of wolves with music-hall ditties. For the blood-drenched finale, he stabs a white-haired deity with his sharp-toed boot.
