Über die Doku „The People vs George Lucas“ hatte ich vor zwei Jahren bereits gebloggt, mittlerweile ist sie fertig und wird dieses Jahr auf dem SXSW Festival Premiere feiern. Dazu gibt’s einen neuen Trailer (oben), hier ein Snip aus dem Press Release:

THE PEOPLE vs. GEORGE LUCAS explores the titanic struggle between a Godlike filmmaker and his legions of fans over the most popular franchise in movie history. “At its core, PvsG is the examination of a high-profile, dysfunctional love story”, says Philippe. “George created this humongous and intricate sandbox for us to play in; but is he the sole owner of it, or does it now belong to the ages? And what happens to your role as a creator when your audience claims it owns your art? We basically looked at the conflicted dynamic between George and his fans from a cultural perspective, and asked ourselves those questions.”

The documentary features key testimonies from the likes of Gary Kurtz (Producer of AMERICAN GRAFFITI, STAR WARS and THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK), Neil Gaiman (THE SANDMAN, AMERICAN GODS), Dave Prowse (aka Darth Vader), Anthony Waye (Executive Producer of the BOND franchise), and Dale Pollock (George Lucas’s Biographer, Author of SKYWALKING).

    it is about a godlike filmaker???? Hallo? Wenn der Opa nicht n paar tüpen um sich gehabt hätte mehr Talent und Kreativität pushen konnten wären die Teile 4-6 flach gefallen.

    Wennse schreibe das uninformierte Fanboy ihn als God ansehen bitte sehr. Spätestestenz seit dem ersten Teil dürfte ja jedem Klar sein das der Herr höchstenz C Movie rep hat….

    Ich mag diese extremen Nahaufnahmen bei Statements/Interviews nicht. Und wenn die Leute denn noch rumschreien und wild rumgestikulieren macht das die Sache nicht besser.

    Der Typ hat sie doch nicht mehr alle. Was für ein Vater lässt den Tod seines eigenen Kindes in einem Film zeigen (Ep. III, dieser kleine Junge, der Bail Organa rettet und danach getötet wird, ist sein Sohn)?

    Naja wäre nicht unbedingt schlecht 4-6 nochmal ins kino in 3d bringen nur hoffentlich geht man vom ursprungs material aus und nicht von der xten nachbearbeitung. und dannach kann man dann auch 7-9 drehen, am besten auch wieder mit echten modellen. und von mir aus dann auch in 3d.

    … wow – Wahnsinn… schau ich mir auf jeden Fall an… da sieht man bestimmt enorm “komische” Fanauswüchse… einerseiter bewundere ich geradezu die PASSION … andererseits mir unverständlich wie es so ausufern kann:”Don´t ever say it´s JUST a film!”. … puh da seh ich mich mit Gummiknüppel und Sedativum… in der Hinterhand die Psychojacke! ^_~
