“L.A. Zombie”, der neue Film von Bruce LaBruce und Quasi-Fortsetzung seines melancholischen Zombiedramas “Otto; or Up with Dead People”, sollte eigentlich auf dem derzeitigen Melbourne International Film Festival gezeigt werden, wurde vom OFLC (Office of Film and Literature Classification) aber mit einem Aufführungsverbot belegt. Grund waren die anstößigen schwulen Sexszenen in Verbindung mit Gewalteinlagen, obwohl die dortige Fassung nicht einmal der alternativen Hardcore-Version des Films entsprochen hätte. LaBruce zeigte sich ertzürnt:
“Censorship in any form must not be tolerated. The Classification Board should not be making decisions about what Australians freely choose to see. The personal tastes of members of the Board are irrelevant at a Festival of this size and importance. My film has already been called ‘a masterpiece of melancholia’. Australians should be allowed to make up their own minds.”
Natürlich ärgerlicher und bezeichnender Vorfall, aber zumindest bringt er den Film ins Gespräch. Bin gespannt.
