Variety meldet einen Reboot von Stephen Kings Firestarter. Man mag von dem ganzen Reboot-Quatsch halten, was man will: Hier finde ich einen Reboot nicht falsch. Firestarter ist nun wirklich kein herausragender King-Stoff, bietet aber einiges an Ideen, die man mit ein bisschen Budget visuell sehr schön umsetzen könnte. Ich meine, wenn Hollywood eines können sollte, dann schicke Bilder mit kleinen Mädchen, die Sachen per Telekinese in Brand setzen, oder wie? Und über die Verfilmung in den 80ern breiten wir ja sowieso lieber den Mantel des Schweigens. In diesem Sinne: Haut rein! Solange es kein feuerspeiendes Twilight wird, soll’s mir recht sein.
Universal is looking to reignite the “Firestarter” flame. The studio and Dino De Laurentiis Co. have teamed to reboot the 1984 horror pic, with Mark L. Smith onboard to pen the script. Plot details for the reboot are being kept under wraps. It’s expected to be loosely based on the original King book, but the main character is to be reinvented with a little more edge. De Laurentiis Co. chairman Martha De Laurentiis and prexy of production Lorenzo De Maio will produce through the De Laurentiis Co. along with Steven Schneider through his Room 101 banner.
“We see this as a unique, character-driven thriller with a supernatural edge, based on a timeless concept and enhanced by recent visual effects advances,” Martha De Laurentiis said. @ Dominic: Disaster Girl war ne mittelgroße Internet-Meme 2008 und das Originalbild hieß (na? na? genau!): Firestarter.jpg.

Der 80′er-FIRESTARTER sollte ja ursprünglich von Carpenter gemacht werden, nach einem Skript von Bill Lancaster, aber nach dem THE-THING-Flop hatte sich der Plan zerschlagen. Weiß irgendwer, ob’s das originale Lancaster-Skript irgendwo zu lesen gibt …?

für einmal bin ich wohl der einzige , der den firestarter mochte – damals wie heute . sogar das buch hat mir gefallen . ich bin also gar nicht so schwer zufriedenzustellen :)

Na, weiß noch jemand, wer im alten Film die Hauptrolle gespielt hat? Yes, it really was Drew Barrymore (was man auch auf dem Plakat erkennt, wenn man so alt ist, dass man weiß, dass sie auch schon als Kind Schauspielerin war)!!! Muss kurz nach “E.T.” gewesen sein.
