Toller Trailer zu Michel Gondrys neuem Film „The We And The I“, der die Storys auf der letzten Busfahrt einer Reihe Highschool-Kids aus der Bronx erzählt. Der Film hatte im Mai Premiere in Cannes und läuft seit einer Woche in Frankreich in den Kinos, ein Deutschlandstart ist (natürlich) nicht geplant. Was eine Schande ist, denn ich halte das Konzept für ziemlich gandios. Die Bewertung auf IMDB lässt allerdings bereits darauf schließen, dass „The We and the I“ auf Filmlänge dann doch nicht hält, was er verspricht. Ansehen werde ich mir den allerdings definitiv, alleine schon als Gegengift zur Hollywood-Einheitsgrütze.

Hier der komplette Trailer zu Spielbergs „Lincoln“. Ich bin ja bekennder Spielberg-Fanboy, ich fand sogar „War Horse“ gut und auch „AI“ und „Minority Report“, aber das hier sieht für mich leider völlig uninteressant aus. Aber wahrscheinlich muss man auch Amerikaner sein, um das hier zu verstehen.

Hier der Trailer zu einem von – soweit ich weiß – zwei Filmen über Julian Assange und Wikileaks, Dokus nicht mitgezählt. Der hier entstand für den australischen TV-Sender Ten und hatte gestern Premiere auf dem Toronto International Film Festival. Für Nerds wie mich trotz Fernseh-Optik ein Must Watch.

Underground, which premieres Saturday at the Toronto International Film Festival and will air on Australia’s Network Ten later this year, is a study in how Assange became Assange. Durchaus schicker Trailer zum Found-Footage Horrorfilm „The Bay“ von Barry Levinson (Rain Man, Wag The Dog, Sphere). Erinnert an Cronenbergs „Shivers“ (Parasitenmörder) und natürlich an „Cloverfield“. Ich bin gespannt!

Ungefähr vor einem Jahr bloggte ich die Meldung eines kommenden Animations-Episodenfilms über das Leben von Graham Chapman – „the dead Python“. Bis auf Eric Idle sind alle Pythons in Sprechrollen zu hören, die Stimme von Graham Chapman kommt von einem Tonband, das er kurz vor seinem Tod aufgenommen hatte. Ob mir der Trailer gefällt, weiß ich noch nicht – wird nach hinten raus etwas besser. Insgesamt finde ich die Animation aber recht schwach. Muss man aber im Kontext bewerten. Der Film läuft Ende des Jahres in einem limitierten Kinostart in den USA, danach auf dem PayTV-Sender Epix. Wann und ob „A Liars Autobiography“ auch in Deutschland zu sehen sein wird, weiß ich nicht, aber man hat ja alternative Möglichkeiten.

Graham Chapman, probably best remembered as ‘the dead one from Monty Python’, writes and stars in the animated movie of his own life story, A LIAR’S AUTOBIOGRAPHY. Although Chapman selfishly dropped dead in 1989, he had taken the trouble to record himself reading his book, A Liar’s Autobiography — and those recordings have now ingeniously been used to provide Chapman’s voice for the 3D animated feature of the same name. Fellow Pythons John Cleese, Terry Jones, Michael Palin, and Terry Gilliam also turn up, playing themselves and other characters, along with a few surprise guests.

Not a documentary, not a Monty Python film, A LIAR’S AUTOBIOGRAPHY is Chapman’s own take on his bizarre life and his search for self-knowledge, bringing Chapman back to life in an ingenious tour de force of animation, told through 17 different animation styles from 14 different animators.

Incredible, yes. Surreal, certainly. True? Who knows? At his memorial service, John Cleese called Chapman “a freeloading bastard”. Now, as the film re-unites Chapman with Cleese, Jones, Palin, and Gilliam for the first time in 23 years, he is set to earn a new title — the most prolific corpse since Elvis.

„5-25-77“, der bessere von zwei Filmen über Roadtrips zu Star Wars-Premieren (der andere wäre „Fanboys“), braucht Geld für die Fertigstellung. Der Film ist seit sieben Jahren in Arbeit und benötigt jetzt nochmal einen kleinen Kraftakt, um den Vertrieb zu sichern. Um das Geld aufzutreiben hat sich Regisseur Patrick Read Johnson auf ‘ne Tour durch die USA begeben, während der die Making Of-Doku „Hearts of Dorkness“ gedreht wird, oben der Trailer dazu. Hier der Fundraiser, ich hab’ grade 20$ gespendet, weil ich diesen Film sehen will und alle Trailer dazu absolut fantastisch aussehen and you should, too. Weil: „Real Life is something you do when you’re tired of watching movies“. Make this happen!

On May 25th, 2012, the 35th Anniversary of the release of the original Star Wars, Patrick Read Johnson, departed Wadsworth, Illinois, in the film’s 1975 Ford Pinto, and began a 30-day cross-country/road-trip/fundraising campaign odyssey designed to finally bring his long-awaited film to the screen.

His goal? To raise the funds needed to finish 5-25-77 with a multi-media adventure– eventually in conjunction with a Kickstarter campaign– which will be documented, and made available daily, here on this website, (in addition to through all the other HOD social network avenues). The best moments of the adventure will finally be compiled and sculpted into a documentary: Hearts of Dorkness, to be released in conjunction with the DVD of 5-25-77.

Der zweite Film „Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho“ mit Anthony Hopkins als Hitch und Scarlett Johansson als Janet Leigh kommt Anfang nächsten Jahres ins Kino.

Tony Scott hat sich im Alter von 68 Jahren das Leben genommen, der Regisseur von Top Gun,True Romance und Beverly Hills Cop 2 sprang gestern abend von der Vincent Thomas Bridge in Los Angeles. Der Mann hinterlässt neben Bruder Ridley seine Frau Donna und seine Zwillingssöhne Frank und Max. Vom Guardian:

Film director Duncan Jones, who directed Moon and Source Code, tweeted: “Just heard about Tony Scott news. Horrible … Tony was a truly lovely man who took me under his wing & ignited my passion to make films.” Jones added: “Awww Tony. Wish you had felt there was a way to keep going. What a sad waste. My thoughts go out to his wife and beautiful children.”

Toller Trailer zu Brandon Cronenbergs „Antiviral“. Sieht so aus, als ob der Bub’ eine Portion vom Talent des Papas mitbekommen hat, thematisch greift er vor allem auf das Frühwerk des Bodyhorror-Meisters zurück und erzählt eine Story um durchgedrehte Kliniken und Celebritygeilheit in einer Welt, in der die Lucas Clinic (schicke Viral-Seite!) Viren von Prominenten verkauft und Fans mit den Krankheiten der Stars ansteckt. What could possibly go wrong?

Hier der Trailer zu Kathryn Bigelows Osama Bin Laden-Film „Zero Dark Thirty“. Bigelow arbeitete bereits an einem Film über die Jagd nach OBL, als die Navy Seals ihn damals erwischten. Dann musste der Filmstart verschoben werden, weil man Einflussnahme auf die Präsidentschaftswahlen in den USA befürchtete. Der Film startet dort nun im Dezember. Wieviel von diesem Film reine Propaganda sein wird, muss man abwarten. Dass die Frau das Thema Kriegsfilm gleichzeitig unterhaltend und kritisch angehen kann, hat sie bereits mit Hurt Locker bewiesen. Ich bin gespannt.
