Hier der neue Trailer zu „The Great Gatsby“ von Baz Luhrmann mit Leonardo DiCaprio und Tobey Maguire. Ich bin mit Luhrmanns exaltiertem Stil nie warm geworden, aber das hier finde ich aus irgend einem Grund ziemlich fantastisch, auch wenn der Soundtrack im letzten Viertel des Trailer gar nicht geht.

“The Great Gatsby” follows Fitzgerald-like, would-be writer Nick Carraway as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz and bootleg kings. Ziemlich grandioser Trailer zu „No!“ um den chilenischen Werber Rene (Ha!), der mit einer innovativen Kampagne für die Opposition maßgeblich die Stimmung in seinem Land beeinflusste und den Umsturz herbeiführte. Gefilmt auf VHS, trotzdem tolle Bilder, schöner Schnitt, mag ich alles, sehr.

Based on a true story, when Chilean military dictator Augusto Pinochet, facing international pressure, calls for a referendum on his presidency in 1988, opposition leaders persuade a brash young advertising executive, Rene Saavedra (Gael García Bernal), to spearhead their campaign. Die Meisterwerke von Terrence Malick angemessen zu bewerben, ist fast unmöglich. Deshalb dauerte es wohl auch eine Weile mit dem Trailer zu seinem neuen Film “To the Wonder”, der bislang nur in dürftiger Qualität vorliegt. Erst am 30. Mai startet der Film hierzulande, bis dahin muss man mit den wunderschönen Eindrücken des Trailers vorlieb nehmen, die stark an “The Tree of Life” erinnern. Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams, Olga Kurylenko und Javier Bardem spielen die Hauptrollen, Emmanuel Lubezki zeichnet erneut für die Bilder verantwortlich.

Hier der Trailer zu Drift, Surferfilm aus Australien. Sieht mir sehr nach dem „Lords of Dogtown“ für Surfer aus.

Encouraged by their new friends, travelling bohemian surf photographer and filmmaker JB (Sam Worthington) and his gorgeous Hawaiian surfer companion, Lani, who stirs the two brothers’ hearts, they start to seek ways to expand. After they get mixed up with a local drug dealer, it looks like everything they built up, will be ruined…

Jo. Hohum. Lasst mich raten, der Film wird total gritty, dark und more intense.

Hier die Synopsis:

Auch wenn die (inzwischen 5) Verfilmungen meines Lieblingscomichelden bisher zwischen “meh” und “ist ok” schwankt, bleibt die Vorfreude auf den nächsten Teil natürlich nicht aus. Das hat natürlich nicht nur damit zu tun, dass Logan nach Japan geht und dort auf den Kenuichio Harada aka Silver Samurai trifft. Das ganze Japan-Kapitel aus Wolverines Vergangenheit ist eigentlich eine Trilogie wert, aber schauen wir mal was James Mangold daraus macht.

Am 26. Juli 2013 startet der Film in amerikanischen Kinos.

johnwaters1Wie jedes Jahr hat der unvergleichliche John Waters für Artforum seine – wie ich finde: diesmal etwas befremdlichen – Lieblingsfilme aufgelistet, mit aber natürlich exquisiten Begründungen:

1. The Deep Blue Sea (Terence Davies) – The agony and passion of obsessive love and a broken heart are so well wrought here that you’ll wish you were suicidal over someone who didn’t love you back.

2. Paradies: Glaube (Ulrich Seidl) – Fassbinder died, so God gave us Ulrich Seidl. I laughed uproariously throughout this horrifying portrait of a religious fanatic, and if there’s something the matter with you, you will, too.

3. Paradies: Liebe (Ulrich Seidl) – Middle-aged women sex tourists can be just as piggish as their male counterparts. But when the sexually exploited begin to exploit back, who’s the victim? The audience, that’s who, and we deserve it.

4. Liebe (Michael Haneke) – Misery is really in this year. “Hurts! Hurts! Hurts!” yells out the dying elderly wife to her longtime-caretaker husband, and ticket buyers will agree. Makes Saw seem like a romantic comedy.

5. Killer Joe (William Friedkin) – The best Russ Meyer film of the year—only it’s not directed by him. Gina Gershon, you shocked me raw!

Das war ja nur eine Frage der Zeit: Angry Birds wird verfilmt und ich werde mir das Ergebnis definitiv nicht ansehen. Produzent John Cohen hatte vor ein paar Jahren die Idee mit den Chipmunks-Filmen. Nuff said.

He worked closely with Blue Sky Studios on films including Ice Age, Robots, Ice Age: The Meltdown and Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who. Cohen had the idea to reimagine Alvin and the Chipmunks and developed the 2007 film.

Hier der neue Trailer zu Zack Snyders Superman-Verfilmung. Ich glaub’, der wird was.

Neuer Trailer zu Gore Verbinskis Lone Ranger-Verfilmung und in diesem Trailer gibt man sich sichtlich Mühe, den Stoff auch für Ranger-n00bs wie mich verständlich zu machen, mit eher so mittlerem Erfolg: Ich kann mit dem Stoff nach wie vor so gar nix anfangen, bin aber auch zugegeben nicht der größte aller Western-Fans. Und das Pirates-of-the-Caribbean-Ripoff-Visual in der Mitte des Trailers zeigt dann auch so ein bisschen Verzweiflung auf Disneys Seite, die nach Semi-Flops wie Tron 2 oder John Carter of Mars dringend mal wieder einen richtigen Blockbuster brauchen. Ob der Lone Ranger da das richtige Zugpferd – Pun intended – ist, wage ich einfach mal zu bezweifeln.

Aber zugegeben: Das Pferd im Baum ist sehr nett.

Noch einer dieser Filme, die man sich anschaut und denkt: “Ja, och.. Das war doch ganz nett!” Vollkommen harmlos, halb so witzig wie in dem Trailer beschrieben und doch mit dem Nachgeschmack, dass die 1€ für die DVD jetzt nicht ganz aus dem Fenster geschmissen wurden:

Immerhin sieht man Megan Fox im Bikini, Jason Segel und Chris O’Dowd die harmlose Homo-Witzchen machen und Paul Rudds Arsch durch einen Vergrößerungsspiegel.

YT Direktschmidt, via Bleeding Cool

Hier der erste Trailer zu M. Night Shyamalans Apokalypsenfilm „After Earth“ mit Papa und Sohn Smith, Drehbuch kommt von Gary Whitta und Stephen Gaghan, den Leuten hinter Book of Eli und Traffic. Sieht gut aus, aber ich trau Shyamalan spätestens nach den Gräsern des Grauens nicht mehr über den Weg.

Hier der Trailer zu Joseph Kosinskis (Tron: Legacy) „Oblivion“ mit Tom Cruise, Morgan Freeman und Olga Kurylenko. Ich find’s ja nett, wie sie Kosinski zu sowas wie einer Regie-Ikone hochjazzen wollen („an original and groundbreaking cinematic event from the director of TRON“), dabei hat der Mann außer circa 5 Jahre zu spät gekommenen Designs und Tron praktisch nichts gemacht, und auch das hier sieht mir nach einer Menge heißer Luft aus, genau wie schon Tron 2. Aber mal sehen.

Das erste Bewegtbildmaterial zum zweiten “Star Trek”-Kinofilm von J.J. Abrams: der Teaser Trailer zu “Star Trek Into Darkness”! Die japanische Version kommt übrigens mit ein wenig Bonus-Footage daher, die HD-Version des Teasers gibt es hier zu sehen.

Wir alle warten gespannt auf The Hobbit und eigentlich wähnten wir den Film bei Peter Jackson ja in sicheren Händen, auch wenn ich verdammt gerne Guillermo Del Toros Version gesehen hätte. Doch seit im Frühjahr die ersten sehr gemischten Reaktionen auf den neuen Look zu hören waren, bedingt durch die wahrscheinlich zweifelhafte Entscheidung einer höheren Framerate (bzw. einer Framerate, die nicht hoch genug ist, um wieder als filmisch wahrgenommen zu werden, was wohl bei 55-60fps wieder der Fall wäre), machen sich leise Befürchtungen breit, ob Jackson die immensen Erwartungen erfüllen kann und ob sein ausgeschmückter Kleiner Hobbit tatsächlich etwas taugt. Aus einem 300 Seiten Buch, das eine eher kleine Story erzählt, wieder ein Epos wie LOTR in drei Teilen zu machen, ist keine eben kleine Aufgabe und wenn man nach den Kollegen von Coming Soon geht, hat Jackson sie zumindest für den ersten Film ziemlich vergeigt.

“So many great movies have been made with 3D from “Avatar” to “Hugo” to this year’s “The Life of Pi” and one would think that a visually-driven filmmaker Jackson would make the most out of it, but this decision to film at a higher frame rate really ruins the movie. You do adjust to it eventually, but almost every scene requires some sort of adjustment and the human brain can’t do that and escape into a fantasy world at the same time. It doesn’t help that the movie’s following so many great visual FX coups like “The Avengers” and the “Dark Knight Trilogy” but the 3D is a waste and the results of the 48 fps are so distracting that it practically ruins the film. Mind you, this is coming from someone who is a big proponent of 3D, both filmed and in some cases converted, but “The Hobbit” is clearly a film that would have benefitted greatly from the magical fairy dust of film. We recommend avoiding the 48 fps experiment if at all possible.
