Trailer zum Sequel des rassistischen Drecksfilms „96 Hours“, den ich heimlich als Guilty Pleasure schaue, weil er als reiner Actionfilm ganz gut funktioniert (so ähnlich wie „Die rote Flut“). „Your mother is going to be taken.“ Oh my.

Dass mit Chinese Zodiac vermutlich eine Ära zuende geht, sollte uns alle ein wenig traurig stimmen. Es wird wohl das letzte Mal sein, dass wir Chan in der gewohnten Rolle als großen Actionstar sehen. Was aber nicht heißt, dass wir ihn nicht mehr zu Gesicht kriegen. The Telegraph hat ein paar Zitate zusammengefasst, die er in Cannes verlauten ließ:

“For the last 10 years I have been making some other different movies. I want to be an Asian Robert De Niro. I don’t just want to be an action star, I want to be a true actor. I want to get rid of my image.”

Ob Chans 100. Film auch sein letzter Actionfilm sein wird, werden wir sehen. Auf First Showing liest es sich ein bisschen weniger schlimm:

“I’ve been fighting and doing action films all my life, you’ve got to find a point to stop. With this movie I’m the director, I’m the writer, I’m the producer. So okay, I think it’s a good time to announce that it’s my last big action movie.” Adding that, “I would still do action movies but not a big one like this.”

Schöner Trailer zu „The Grey“ mit Liam Neeson, der mit seiner Ölplattform-Mannschaft nach einem Flugzeugabsturz in der Wildnis Alaskas gegen Wölfe kämpft. Ich steh’ ja auf solchen Survivial-Actionkram und der Trailer weckt ein paar tolle Erinnerungen an „Runaway Train“, werde ich mir definitiv ansehen. Hier dier Plot:

In “The Grey,” Liam Neeson leads an unruly group of oil-rig roughnecks when their plane crashes into the remote Alaskan wilderness. WHOA! Von Wikipedia: „The Raid or Serbuan Maut is an Indonesian martial arts action film directed by Welsh Director Gareth Evans and starring Iko Uwais which is set for a 2012 release. This is the second collaboration of Evans and Uwais after their first action film, Merantau released in 2009. Both movies showcase Indonesian traditional martial art Pencak Silat in their choreography. The fight choreographers of The Raid are Iko Uwais and Yayan Ruhian who also worked together with Iko and Gareth in Merantau. The US release of the film features music by Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park.“

Trailer zum nächsten Actionding mit Jason Statham. Der hangelt sich ja auch an so ziemlich allen Action-Klischees entlang, die es gibt. Ich bin gespannt, wann der Mann seine Comedy-Phase beginnt um dann ein paar Jahre später sein „Action-Comeback“ zu feiern.

Hier der neueste Trailer zu „Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol“ von Brad Bird. Ich hatte ja zunächst die Befürchtung, dass Bird aufgrund seines Genre-fremden Œuvre (The Iron Giant, The Incredibles, Ratatouille) nicht passend für so ‘nen Actionkracher wäre, aber das sieht super aus, der wird klasse, perfekt durchkomponiertes Blockbuster-Actionkino, genau wie der komplette Rest des Franchise. Ich bin aber auch Fan, auf mich sollte man da nicht hören.

Teaser Trailer zum indonesischen Actionthriller “The Raid” von Gareth Evans (Merantau). Zu dem Trailer kann man nicht viel mehr sagen als: O.o!

Den Score fürs US-Release des Films wird übrigens Mike Shinoda von Linkin Park komponieren, der dazu auf YT schreibt:

For a long time, I have been wanting to score a film. In order for it to work, it would have to have a great story, stunning visuals, and the timing would have to work out in a way that didn’t distract from all the things I want to do with Linkin Park. I’m really excited to have finally found the right project. The movie is called The Raid. Ich wollte jetzt auch mal eine Liste machen und da hab ich mir gedacht: Kümmer ich mich doch mal um ein Genre, das in der heutigen Zeit ziemlich vernachlässigt wird und wurde. Und ich weiss nicht mal so richtig, wieso. Eigentlich schade. Sehr schade. Es gab mal eine Zeit, da waren das die besten Sachen, die man im Kino zu sehen bekam. Gehen wir mal umgekehrt Chronologisch vor, von Platz 5 bis zum Sieger:

Ein Polizist aus Detroit, der schneller spricht als sein Schatten, landet in Beverly Hills und stellt dort seine Ermittlungen an. Natürilich sehr unbeliebt für seine unorthodoxen Methoden. Dabei labert er jeden den er trifft in Grund und Boden, das man meinen könnte, seine eigentliche Waffe ist sein Mundwerk. Und Mensch, war Eddie Murphy mal cool! Das muss man heutigen Generationen mal immer wieder ins Gedächtnis rufen, die den nur für den möchtegernlustigen Mann mit den Furzwitzen im Fat Suit halten. Der junge Murphy, immer nur in engen Jeans und Chucks und mit lässiger Kapuzenjacke zwischen den ganzen Schickimickis – das war ein totales Fest. Teil Zwei ging auch noch klar, mit Brigitte Nielsen. Aber Teil Drei – ach, reden wir einfach nicht drüber und klammern uns an den ersten Teil. Dann machen wir nichts verkehrt.

Natürlich darf auch keine klassische Chase-Geschichte fehlen. Während die Meisten da aber fälschlicherweise “Cannonball run” für das Masterpiece halten, muss das hier mal gerade gerückt werden: Ein Typ im Trans Am (!), der mit seinem Truckerkumpel und dessen Hund (!!) eine Lasterladung Bier (!!!) über die Grenze nach Texas schmuggelt (!!!!), weil ein Bruderpaar mit einem großen und einem Kleinwüchsigen (!!!!!) gewettet (!!!!!!) haben, das er das nicht schafft und auf dem Weg nimmt er eine Braut im Brautkleid (!!!!!!!) per Anhalter mit, die vom Altar geflohen ist, wo sie den Sohn des Sherrifs mit dem Namen “Beauford T. Justice” (!!!!!!!!) heiraten sollte. Meine Ausrufezeichentaste ist gerade kaputt gegangen, aber wenn heutige Actionkomödien auch nur ein Drittel dessen im Drehbuch hätten, dann wäre es um das Genre auch nicht so schlecht gestellt.

Hier der Trailer zu Peter Bergs Spieleadaption „Battleship“, Navy vs Aliens in Transformers-Optik. Sieht natürlich wie ganz großer Quatsch aus, aber auch wie ein heimliches Guilty Pleasure.

Hier der Trailer zu Steven Soderberghs Haywire, einem Actionthriller mit Channing Tatum, Ewan McGregor, Michael Fassbender, Antonio Banderas, Bill Paxton, Michael Douglas und Michael Angarano. Damit hat der Mann zwei ausgesprochen mainstreamige Blockbuster am Start, die beide gut (der hier) bis sehr gut (Contagion) aussehen und das Design des Posters für Haywire ist für einen Mainstream-Film fast schon experimentell und toll. Ich bin gespannt, was bei beiden am Ende herauskommt, hier der Plot:

Sehr toller Trailer zu „Drive“ von Nicholas Winding Refn mit Albert Brooks, Ron Perlman, Christina Hendricks, Bryan Cranston, Carey Mulligan und Ryan Gosling. Sieht nach einer wirklich guten Version des völlig überschätzten Transporters aus, hat in Cannes den Preis für Regie geholt. Toll!

Drive is the story of a Hollywood stunt driver by day, a loner by nature who moonlights as a top-notch getaway driver-for-hire in the criminal underworld. He finds himself a target for some of LA’s most dangerous men after agreeing to aid the husband of his beautiful neighbor, Irene. When the job goes dangerously awry, the only way he can keep Irene and her son alive is to do what he does best – drive.

Vorhin wurde noch über das kuriose Poster diskutiert, jetzt gibt’s den Trailer zum neuen Film von Renny Harlin (“Stirb Langsam 2″, “Cliffhanger”). Die Hauptrollen in dem Kriegsactiondrama spielen Rupert Friend, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Andy Garcia, Richard Coyle und Val Kilmer (der immer schlimmer aussieht).

A drama set centered around the war between Russia and Georgia, and focused on an American journalist, his cameraman, and a Georgian native who become caught in the crossfire.

Für DTV-Actionbuddies: Der Trailer zu “Assassination Games” (vormals “Weapon”) mit Jean Claude Van Damme and Scott Adkins, von Ernie Barbarash (“Cube Zero”). Bei Videoproduktionen sieht Colorgrading gleich noch mal schlimmer aus.

Rival assassins — each of whom are masters of their respective weapons — form an uneasy alliance in their mission to take down a DEA-backed drug cartel.

Warner bringt eine Realfilm-Version von MADs Spy vs Spy in die Kinos. Regie übernimmt Ron Howard (Cocoon, Apollo 13, Willow, A Beautiful Mind, Frost/Nixon) und das ganze wird eine Action-Komödie. Der Film dürfte aber nicht allzu schnell gedreht werden, Ron Howard hat vorher noch Stephen Kings „The Dark Tower“-Adaption auf dem Programm, von einigen anderen Projekten ganz abgesehen.

Trailer zum südkoreanischen Motorcycle-Overkill “Quick” mit wirklich extrem fetten Actionszenen. Vor einiger Zeit erschien bereits ein Teaser, dieser Trailer hier ist eine deutlich verlängerte Version desselbigen. Der Plot:

A former motorcycle gang member, Ki-su, makes a living as a bike messenger. One day he witnesses the building blow up. Never suspecting he could have anything to do with the bomb, he moves onto his next job―which is escorting a girl group singer, A-rom, an ex-girlfriend from his biker days. As she puts a proffered helmet on her head, a timer mechanism is triggered and a countdown clock appears. Ki-su gets a call from a stranger telling him to make a series of deliveries within a fixed time limit. When Ki-su completes deliveries, each turns out to be a bomb.

Interessanter Trailer zu „Bellflower“, einem der Hits des diesjährigen Sundance-Festivals. Es geht um Muscle-Car, Flammenwerfer und Liebe, die Kombination werde ich mir definitiv ansehen müssen. Hier der Plot:

Bellflower follows two friends as they venture out into the world to begin their adult lives. Literally all their free time is spent building flame-throwers and weapons of mass destruction in hopes that a global apocalypse will occur and clear the runway for their imaginary gang “Mother Medusa”. Yay! Das Leben des größten Stuntmans aller Zeiten (nach Colt Seavers natürlich) wird verfilmt! Vom Hollywood Reporter:

Like many a kid in the 1970s, writer-director Ric Roman Waugh wanted to recreate the stunts of famous daredevil Evel Knievel. Exclusive Media Group is finally giving him his chance.

Waugh, who spent 20 years in the stuntman ranks before writing and directing the 2008 crime drama Felon, is negotiating to adapt for the screen Leigh Montville’s The High-Flying Life of Evel Knievel: American Showman, Daredevil, and Legend, which Random House published in April. Given his family’s Hollywood background — his father Freddy Waugh (Bad Company) was one of the founders of Stunts Unlimited in the 1970s — Waugh has a vocational connection to the iconic Knievel and the bone-shattering fame he achieved in the ’60s and ’70s.

Waugh, who will also direct Evel, was a fan of Montville’s Ted Williams biography and brought the Knievel book to Exclusive, which optioned the rights for him in a competitive environment. Exclusive’s Nigel Sinclair and Guy East are producing the project, which will cover all of Knievel’s major stunts in the 1960s and 1970s (Snake River Canyon, Kings Island) while providing a look at the painful (in many ways) private life of the man.

Evel Knievel Biopic Revs Up With Director Ric Roman Waugh (via Filmstalker)

Und, grade bei der Bildrecherche gefunden: Das 1978er Evel Knievel-Biopic mit George Hamilton in der Hauptrolle ist komplett auf Youtube, Embedding disabled by Request, Fuckers.

George Hamilton produced and stars in this appealing bio-pic about real-life stunt daredevil Evel Knievel. Knievel’s famous motorcycle stunts and early life are remembered in flashback by the performer in the moments before a big jump. The cast includes familiar drive-in movie faces like Vic Tayback, Sue Lyon, Cheryl Rainbeaux Smith, and Dub Taylor, and much of it was filmed on location in Knievel’s hometown of Butte, Montana. Though Hamilton is quite good in the lead, most fans prefer the real thing — Knievel portraying himself in the later Viva Knievel! (1978).
