A showdown between two kids: about eleven, in a local playground. Swollen lips, broken teeth… Now the parents of the “victim” have invited the parents of the “bully” to their apartment to sort if out. Cordial banter gradually develops a razor-sharp edge as all four parents reveal their laughable contradictions and grotesque prejudices. None of them will escape the ensuing carnage.

From the play by Yasmina Reza, “God of Carnage”, the film focuses on two sets of New York parents (Jodie Foster and John C. Reilly and Kate Winslet and Christoph Waltz), the child of one of which has hurt the other at a public park. Despite trying to resolve things in a civilized way, things rapidly degenerate.

Die Dreharbeiten zu Roman Polanskis neuem Film “Carnage” (Arbeitstitel: “God of Carnage”) mit Kate Winslet, Christoph Waltz, Jodie Foster und John C. Reilly wurden beendet. Zur Einstimmung gibt es schon mal ein paar Bilder von der Abschlussparty am Set zu sehen. Der Film wurde von Constantin co-produziert und deshalb auch u.a. mit deutschen Fördergeldern finanziert. Nach dem meisterlichen “The Ghost Writer” kann ich nun nach langer, langer Zeit endlich wieder sagen: Ich freue mich auf einen neuen Polanski! Und die Besetzung ist wirklich mega.
