Schöne Fotoserie von Howard Schatz für Vanity Fair: Er rief Schauspielern je drei Szenen zu und fotografierte Portraits, unter anderem von Jeff Goldblum, Ricky Gervais, Jane Lynch, Laurence Fishburne, Jeff Daniels, John Goodman, John Malkovich, Geoffrey Rush oder Brooke Shields. Oben Jane Lynch und das hier sollen die drei Hackfressen darstellen:

Left: You’re a child swallowing a spoonful of medicine that your mom promised would taste good, and now she’s telling you that if it didn’t taste awful it wouldn’t work. Center: You’re at a social dinner with your work colleagues and their spouses, desperately trying to signal your partner to stop talking so freely about your shared sex life. Right: You’re a bunny-level skier who has decided to try a black-diamond slope, and now, with no idea how to stop, you’re headed straight for a tree.

Nick Carr ist Locationscout in New York und hat in drei Teilen die Drehorte von Taxi Driver im Jahr 2009 besucht. Faszinierend!

The character of Travis Bickle is utterly co-dependent with the New York of 1976, a spawn of all that New York had become at the time. Without the tough, dangerous, smut-filled, immoral, seedy, dank, sweaty, filthy, gritty streets of that world, Bickle could not exist.

That world has vanished. Travis Bickle is dead.

Finding the locations used in Taxi Driver turned out to be incredibly difficult, largely because the film documents a side of the city that has since been demolished, rebuilt, renovated, spit-shined, and stamped with a seal of approval. Literally, entire blocks that appear in the movie have been leveled since 1976, and only the brief appearance of a building number or street sign gives any clue to the actual location.
