Hier nach dem Teaser im Sommer der erste richtige Trailer zu Hunger Games, der amerikanisierten Variante von Battle Royale. Mir sieht das nach wie vor zu glattgebügelt aus, könnte aber wie bei Starship Troopers auch Absicht sein, obwohl ich das einem Regisseur wie Gary Ross nicht zutraue, der Mann hat immerhin Lassie und Seabiscuit verbrochen. Hier der Plot:

The Hunger Games takes place in an unidentified future time period after the destruction of North America, in a nation known as Panem. Panem consists of a wealthy Capitol and twelve surrounding, poorer districts. District 12, where the book begins, is located in the coal-rich region that was formerly Appalachia.

As punishment for a previous rebellion against the Capitol, every year, one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 from each district are selected by lottery and forced to participate in the Hunger Games, a televised event in which the participants, or “tributes,” must fight to the death in a dangerous, outdoor arena, controlled by the Capitol, until only one remains. The story follows fatherless 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen, a girl from District 12, who volunteers for the 74th Games in place of her younger sister, Primrose. Also participating from District 12 is Peeta Mellark, a boy whom Katniss knows from school and who once gave her bread when her family was starving.

Hier der Trailer zu „The Iron Lady“, Polit-Portrait mit Meryl Streep um das Leben der Thatcher. Ich bin kein Fan beider Damen, aber den hier werde ich mir definitiv ansehen. Inszeniert von Phyllida Lloyd, die schon bei Mamma Mia! Regie führte, von dem ich als sowohl Abba- als auch Musical-Hasser sagen muss: Sehr, sehr sympathischer Film. Die Lloyd macht also immer Filme mit und über zwei Dinge, die ich gar nicht leiden kann und schafft es, daraus was tolles zu machen. Das nenne ich mal’n Talent, doh!

THE IRON LADY is a surprising and intimate portrait of Margaret Thatcher (Meryl Streep), the first and only female Prime Minister of The United Kingdom. One of the 20th century’s most famous and influential women, Thatcher came from nowhere to smash through barriers of gender and class to be heard in a male dominated world.

Die Daily Mail (schon wieder!) hat ein Interview mit der Streep:

‘I still don’t agree with a lot of her policies,’ said Streep. ‘But I feel she believed in them and that they came from an honest conviction, and that she wasn’t a cosmetic politician just changing make-up to suit the times. She stuck to what she believed in, and that’s a hard thing to do.

‘She’s still an incredibly divisive figure, but you miss her clarity today. It was all very clear and up front, and I loved that eagerness to mix it up and to make it about ideas.’
Of modern politicians, Streep added: ‘Today it’s all about feelings. You know, “How do I come off?” and, “Does this seem OK?”.

Netter Trailer zur Märchen-Adaption „Snow White and the Huntsman“ mit Twilight-Gschmusi Kristen Stewart. Werde ich mir ansehen, ich bin aber auch anfällig für Märchen und solchen Fantasy-Quatsch.

Trailer zum nächsten Actionding mit Jason Statham. Der hangelt sich ja auch an so ziemlich allen Action-Klischees entlang, die es gibt. Ich bin gespannt, wann der Mann seine Comedy-Phase beginnt um dann ein paar Jahre später sein „Action-Comeback“ zu feiern.

X-Posting von Nerdcore: Netter Trailer zur Zombie-Miniserie Viva Berlin! (Facebook) von Moritz Mohr und Benjamin Munz. Die Serie ist ihre Abschlussarbeit an der Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg und lief im Sommer bereits auf dem Fantasy Filmfest. Ich weiß nicht, ob die Serie wirklich etwas taugt, behalte das aber im Auge. Snip vom FFF:

Der deutsche Zombiefilm erhebt sich aus seinem Grab und startet einen blutigen Blitzangriff auf die Hauptstadt. VIVA BERLIN! heißt das ambitionierte Abschlussprojekt einiger Filmstudenten, die uns darin „Horrorgeschichten ganz ohne Weichspüler“ versprechen: „Genrekost vom Feinsten, so hart und kompromisslos, wie es die Zombiefans kennen und erwarten.“ Und sie lösen dieses Versprechen ein.

Die höchst professionelle Produktion ist für deutsche Verhältnisse von ungewohnter Härte – sowohl vom Gorelevel als auch thematisch. (Kleiner Hinweis: in Berlin werden neuerdings Zombies sexuell missbraucht.) VIVA Berlin! besteht aus fünf thematisch lose miteinander verbundenen Episoden zwischen vier und neun Minuten. Darin geht es so zur Sache, dass eine Ausstrahlung im Fernsehen ohnehin nicht in Frage kommt. Deshalb laden die Jungproduzenten ihre Serie Ende des Jahres ins Netz – dann können die kurzen Folgen, so drückte es der Regisseur aus, „irgendwo zwischen E-Mails, einer Runde World of Warcraft und Youporn angeschaut werden.“

Hier der Trailer zur 80s-Serienverfilmung 21 Jump Street. Ich hab’ die Serie ja nie gesehen, weil das für mich so’n Mädchending war – genau der gleiche Grund, warum ich nie NKOTB oder Take That gehört habe. Sowas macht man halt einfach nicht. Deshalb kann ich zum Trailer nicht viel sagen, außer dass das einigermaßen unterhaltsam aussieht. Hier der Plott:

Hier der erste richtige Trailer zu American Reunion und diesmal musste ich sogar lachen. Sieht trotz Mainstream-Komödienblödsinn recht sympathisch aus.

Hier der neueste Trailer zu „Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol“ von Brad Bird. Ich hatte ja zunächst die Befürchtung, dass Bird aufgrund seines Genre-fremden Œuvre (The Iron Giant, The Incredibles, Ratatouille) nicht passend für so ‘nen Actionkracher wäre, aber das sieht super aus, der wird klasse, perfekt durchkomponiertes Blockbuster-Actionkino, genau wie der komplette Rest des Franchise. Ich bin aber auch Fan, auf mich sollte man da nicht hören.

Hier der Trailer zu „The Innkeepers“ von Ti West, der 2010 mit „House of the Devil“ einen meiner Lieblingsfilme des Jahres ablieferte. Innkeepers lief bereits auf dem Fantasy Filmfest, das ich leider verpasst hatte. Jedenfalls dürfte auch das hier ganz großes Kino werden, hier der Plot:

Der Dr. Seuss-Kram ging ja immer an mir vorbei, aber der Trailer zu „The Lorax“ sieht gut aus und ein Film mit Polyphonic Spree im Soundtrack kann eigentlich nur gut werden.
